The Roots of Inspiration: ATH's vision for a food-secure Kansas City
Join us in an exciting new chapter of our mission to combat food insecurity in Kansas City! After the Harvest is proud to introduce the “Urban Produce Push” initiative, launching in October 2023. This groundbreaking program marks a fresh and innovative approach to nourishing our communities. Urban Produce Push is our vision to ensure that every corner of Kansas City has access to an abundance of healthy, nourishing fruits and vegetables. We’re taking action to address food insecurity head-on by selecting ten zip codes as our starting point. Here’s how it works.

Comprehensive Assessment

For each chosen zip code, we'll conduct a comprehensive assessment to identify the gaps and needs specific to that area in relation to Kansas City as a whole. We'll delve into food insecurity statistics and assess available resources, including quality grocery stores, community gardens, farmers, and agencies. This strategic analysis will guide our efforts to tailor solutions for each community.

Community Adoption

We're building a network of compassionate supporters like you to "adopt" each zip code. Each team member's unique contribution will be the driving forces behind our efforts to lower food insecurity rates, empower local growers and farmers, and provide nutritious produce to those in need.

Team Effort

Every member of our community-based teams will tap into ATH's extensive network of relationships with farmers and growers, distributors, funders and agencies. Together, we'll harness these valuable resources to drive a lasting change in the landscape of the food system. By connecting with local stakeholders and experts, we'll create sustainable solutions that leave a lasting impact on food insecurity in Kansas City.

As a supporter of ATH, you are the heart and soul of this initiative. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of families and individuals facing food insecurity in your community. By adopting a zip code, you are:

  • Fostering Change
Your support funds our efforts to bring fresh produce to underserved areas, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
  • Empowering Growers
Your commitment helps us nurture and expand local farms and community gardens, creating a sustainable source of fresh food for your community.
  • Nourishing Lives
Together, we’ll connect people experiencing food insecurity with the nutritious fruits and vegetables often missing from their tables.
