Make 2023 the year to give back: Volunteer with ATH!

FEB 8, 2023

Volunteering with After the Harvest is a great way to help fight food insecurity, improve nutrition, and reduce food waste in the Greater Kansas City area. ATH rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables at risk of being wasted, and distributes produce to agencies serving food insecure people in our community. Volunteers are the heart and soul to this process, and there are a variety of ways to get involved this year.

Click the button above to receive email updates as volunteer opportunities become available.

If you’d like to help with food rescue operations, you can volunteer to participate in gleaning. This involves going out to farms, orchards, and gardens where fresh food is grown and harvesting it to be distributed to those in need. This helps to ensure that food that would otherwise go to waste is put to good use. You can also help by salvaging already harvested produce from local farms or farmer’s markets and delivering it to the agencies After the Harvest serves.

If you’d prefer outreach or administrative tasks, you can become a Yambassador and help spread the word about what we do by working info tables or supporting our community partners. You can also work with your local community to identify food insecurity needs, and help organize activities and events to support those in need.

No matter how you choose to volunteer with After the Harvest, you’ll be helping to make a real difference in the fight against food insecurity. Join forces with After the Harvest and help ensure that everyone has access to the food they need to lead healthy and productive lives.
