PBS Flatland unpacks food insecurity, waste in feature episode with After the Harvest

Despite a permanent increase to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and an abundance of food waste across the country, food insecurity persists in Kansas City. A growing network of organizations seeks to get free, healthy food into the hands that need it. 

 

“Up to 52 percent of produce grown in our country never reaches a human consumer,” ATH Executive Director Lisa Ousley told PBS Kansas City. “What industry allows more than half of its product to go to waste?”
